Once in a while we are lucky enough to strike and meet a wonderful person, in this case it’s my dearest friend, Ana María Restrepo. An extremely talented luxury fabric designer, graduated from London College of Fashion, who just had her debut catwalk in Colombiamoda, one of South America’s most important fashion week. Amarpo was invited to take part in the Modo Rosa catwalk, which is a company who works together with Tripartita Comunicaciones for the early detection of breast cancer.
For this year catwalk, each designer was given a word to reflect on, Amarpo received Alegria – JOY. Keeping the siluettes simple and feminine, Ana Maria got to focus in what she is widely renown, embellishing each garment with unique embroidery techniques learnt at university, while interning with Ralph & Russo and mastering them in a course with Hand and Lock in New York. As well, she hand paints and applies different media in each garment, creating intricate and pristine designs, all exploding with tons of colours, as she is no stranger to include a wide palette when it comes to her designs.
At the moment Ana Maria is working with the prestigious Colombian brand Agua Bendita as the creative director, and in her spare time she carries on with her brand in a made to measure basis, keeping her busy around the clock.
You can follow Ana Maria in Instagram @anarestrepo and @amarpodesign to keep up with the exiting journey of this promising young designer.
